As you can see I’m searching your site. I did this because I’ve somehow damaged a SATA drive such that it shows as unpartitioned. Howwever it’s not damaged physically and the data all appears intact. Of course I need to recover it. This little jem you have created shows the dirve and lets me open it in explorer.

I assum the recovery process is then to copy the data (300 gig!) to a new drive and once confirmed as good, reformat the old?

The software does not appear to actually fix whatever I did to the drive? (I’ve had lots of x7e BOD’s fo reason so far unknown and thnk it happend while I investigate those.)

Hi, as you can probably see I’m surfing around your site, this was driven by my need for something to help me recover a single partition hard drive that something (hopefully minor) has gone wrong with. i.e. the drive no longer looks partitioned. Running yur little gem of a program shows that all my data appears to be there still and intact, all 300 gig of it. so far so good.

I assume that the recovery process is, mount the discovered dirve, open in explorer, and copy the data to a new location? Because i see nothing that actually updates the drive. Once copied the old drive and be reformatted I guess to recover it fully? Is this correct?

You are correct, Partition Find and Mount does not fix anything. It mounts partitions and recovers what is damaged on the fly, without writing anything to the damaged disk. This is to prevent any further damage to the disk that may occur.

Yes, you would need to copy all the data off the damaged drive. Then, when you check that all the important data is intact, you can re-partition it with Windows Disk Manager and then copy all the data back.

In the meantime, I will check if we can set up donations on our Find and Mount website.

Ok, final question. I have to recover my 300gig (FULL) hard drive. THe partitons is found etc; I’ve gone and purchased an external drive to move the data to. However the system crashes (the cause of the loss in the first place I feel) when I try to attacch it. So the new plan it to copy the data accross the network to another PC - but I can’t share the Drive? Any clues?

And I’ve answered my own question about making a contribution - buy the Pro version. Ready to do so if there is a way around this situation.

Unfortunately, currently it is impossible to share the mounted partition. I have checked with our developers, they say that this is not something that could be easily fixed (the problem is related to OS permissions on read-only NTFS volumes). I would not expect this to be implemented anytime soon.

But you can always share a folder on the remote system and copy the files into that folder from your local PC.

How dumb do I feel. Of couse I can share the target for the data on the old machine and copy from it to the new! Duh.
I’ve put in my purchase for the Pro copy in appreciation of your product and assistance. If I get bak all 123000 photos of this drive it’s well worth the $44.
Just waiting for the key now, the test copy worked so we are looking good.
